OUR WORK
The Problem
Poverty is a long-standing issue that has plagued families the world over for generations. In its simplest definition, poverty is not having the resources (financially or otherwise) to provide for one’s basic needs. Due to misplaced priorities around the importance of financial literacy, many individuals and generations of families have little to no understanding of money–how to manage it or how to make it grow for their benefit.
According to annuity.org, 75% of American teens lack confidence in their knowledge of personal finance and 25% of Americans say they don’t have anyone they can ask for trusted financial advice.
This lack of financial know-how, often disproportionately impacting minority and underserved communities, has caused vulnerable populations to continue the cycle of poverty. Because financial literacy has not been prioritized in homes, schools and communities, crippling, long-term impoverishment could remain a reality for many. Together, we can change this.
Our Solution
At Champions for Financial Literacy, Inc., we believe financial education is essential to eradicate poverty.
We further believe that in order to create an environment for children to thrive financially as they become adults, financial literacy must be taught in homes, schools, and communities.
This three-pronged strategy offers a well-rounded strategy to increase students' adoption of good financial practices.
